Part of the picture

Work in progress

This short film is a kind of collage, vignettes of archival footage, cyanotype prints, and mixed media animation woven together to explore cycles of consumption—of goods, media, the environment, and even each other. Blurring the line between the familiar and the surreal, it moves through vintage interviews, self-portraiture, and domestic vignettes, layering found materials with analog processes. Coffee pours as disaster looms, while a dystopian vintage ad for an exciting future dissolves into dreamlike, sci-fi-inspired botanical forms. As images peel apart and come back together, the film questions not only what we consume but how the images we see—and the spaces we inhabit—shape our desires, our environment, and ultimately, our future. In the end, we’re left to wonder: how does the picture end?
